Big Tree

A quiet area by an old un-used farm on a closed off road, I wonder how many people have noticed this. It's not like the Grand Canyon where you know what to shoot. I think there's subtle beauty in every direction but it's not obvious. This tree is on a little patch of land in between the farm and road. It's a drive by tree. I had a rough idea of the framing, but still became excited when I looked through the lens. Nothing left to do except timing and exposure. This is a digital capture. I worked the exposure so the grass could never go dark even with computer work. Call it a test or exercise in exposure. This grand tree looks healthy, and strong. I think the small tree to the right, light grass, and background combine to isolate and show it off.

Trees

This is a quite spot on a country road in western mass. Although the limbs are only slightly moving in the wind, they looked like arms splayed in tandem as a pose. What to do? The ferns were a different shade of green (perfect), seemed like a shag carpet. By the rules the shot should have been a vertical. This would have reduced the trees in size. I like the uniformity and simpleness of the image.

Lone Cow

This was one of those bland white sky days and it set the tone for photography. We were driving through the western mass country side and came upon the cow pasture. I wanted to try something with the cows but they turned and started to leave. What is it about cow's? Did they have something else to do? This was the last one over the hill. When bossy turned around... perfect!
