Flower Farm

I tried to make this several times and only seemed to work out when I added a sliver of treeline you see at the top of the photo. I guess it helps with scale and perspective, people like that. No light for photography so I had to work with tones, composition, color, lens perspective, dof, etc. Lots of ways to make a pic. This is so typical of the "almost nothing in focus" images I've been making. Eventually maybe I'll posting images where nothing is in focus, not even fog. It's possible, I think, maybe. I'll make millions.

Grass and Flowers

I feel I made something of nothing, but at the same time, there had to be something here to make me stop and make this. I remember thinking of the different compositions I should try, patterns in the flowers, grass, and also, I should use the lens to explore it. No hurry, my self guided camera tour. The photography developed along the way. At the last moment I flipped my idea of full depth of field and went minimum. I have excitement and satisfaction in the final touches when I think of them. This shows how important a long lens and "out of focus" is.

Green Ocean

I was playing with a new camera to see if it would allow me to do certain things. It did. My hands started to cramp, the light wasn't what I'd hoped, so I kept moving in and over and around. I'm glad I kept working this. Couldn't avoid the green glare of haze and this is when I thought green ocean. The flowers being the little fish.

Wild Flowers

I was trying to make an image of a lightning storm as it approached. I kept hearing the thunder, but didn't see any flashes. It was windy and starting to rain. I started thinking how small insignificant things don't get any worry during the typical storm. That was when I decided to make something of the slope of grass and flowers. It was pouring as this image was shot, and I was done, the battery was dead.

Dandelions

If there's a flower more scorned than the dandelion I don't know about it. When I came upon this, I knew I had to shoot something. I figured the bees like it. This was a big field so no close shots. The day was as perfect as the fence posts were straight. This shot is more about the color but if there were a magazine about fence posts and dandelions I'd be famous.

Rehab

I was at a Rehab/Nursing home and was impressed with everyone (the tenants, family members, and staff). I wanted to get some kind of an "up" picture. No gloom and doom shot, I didn't have that feeling. There's a privacy and dignity thing here so I wouldn't aim at a person and a building shot wouldn't do it. The tenants enjoyed watching me make the image. It may have helped them take their minds off...?

Eyelash Flowers

Located in a bad spot, they weren’t the prettiest flowers, the wind was blowing, and I had no macro lens, so I knew there was a picture here. I used the two images together because I like both shots. The image has a bright light (squint) through your eyelashes look. Perfect!

Kicked Out

I was at Trader Joe’s (Lisa was doing my shopping), and decided it was time to get an image. I started working the flower arrangements when the manager nervously asked what I was doing. In the end he was afraid I was going to make money on the shot. I took a few more shots while he spoke and (I) kicked myself out of the store. Then went back in and gave them roughly 200 bucks for the food.
