Grazing Cattle

There's no star here and that's ok. The scene without the fence or the cows would have satisfied me but they sure add to it. One thing I've learned is shoot what you see, whether it's perfect to what you think or not. Work with it, add to it, and move on.

Tree and Fence

I wanted to do something with the sky, I found the cloud pattern so interesting. I'd rather not make an image of "just" clouds, and sometimes I do, but they have to be special. When I saw the fence and knew I could include it, I figured the image would work. It helps add dimension and gives a good base to the shot. With the lack of light on the fence, it went dark, more icing on the cake.

Hidden Horses

I'm as elevated as I can be and still can't get high enough. I think the horses knew I was coming, so they did what they could to hide themselves. The trick worked during the summer but not today. I'm perfectly willing to shoot this way. If I can shoot through dirty car windows, grass, and broken beer bottles, I can shoot through a bush. To bad horses, I got you again!

Field by the Ocean

Opposite the sea wall, I've never seen a tractor or person working these fields. The "star" of the area has to be the ocean. Hi tide, low tide, beach, sun, etc. all on the other side of the road. What's the field for, the fence posts? Is it to keep the lobster herds contained? I don't think anyone knows but the fence post people. I like the shot, regardless.

The Team

At a little league game there are many things to shoot. From the kids swinging and throwing, playing the field, there's plenty to do. Parents and friends make good subjects doing their thing. How about the bench? There's no action, but what 's going through their minds. I saw the first boy (in focus) and hoped he'd stay in thought. The other boys were the icing. What would have been a decent shot went up a notch when I saw the different gestures with the others. It's solid from left to right. This image says allot about the team. I'm happy with that.

Winter Horse

I think this image works. It's part of my winter series. Winter is a season of bad weather. I have to remind myself that just like a rainy drizzly day presents opportunity for photographers, rotten winter does. I could have shot the horse many different ways. I feel, without the edge of the tree (for the beginning of depth), without the branch laying in the snow (breaks up all the foreground white), the fence (more depth and color!), the horse, wind blown snow, and background would be just another image. My eyes move all around in this image. Do you think the horse is enjoying winter?

Fence

I like making color images that are black and white. This is easy in the winter. The yellow tension wire on the left holds the color and helps add depth to the shot. The fence has nothing to do with a boundary or confinement, it's purpose is all about winter and snow. I felt pretty lucky when we came upon this field. On this gray cold day, the fence seemed to pose.
