Pasture and Cloud

I like this because it is so simple to look at. I had to wait for the cloud to hurry up and get into position before the image was complete. This image says cows to me even though there are non, but they've definitely been here. It turned out a bit like a painting.

Cloud Cover

I guess I don't know a lot about clouds. The clouds are covered by a thin layer of cloud? I'll take the phenomenon, and the picture (of course). I don't fly enough, and have to envy pilots of the big heavy's. Imagine the view and all the neat cloud formations they get to enjoy. I wonder if they appreciate it. They should.

Cloud with Moon

I was heading to my car after work last night and noticed the blue sky. Sometimes I have to spend all day inside so when I go out, a pleasant evening looks even better. When I saw the moon, I figured, why not, I photograph everything else, and it isn't the first time I've shot the moon and it won't be the last. I have to say, my first few--> "bah-hored" me. So I start "shooting for the moon" and end up with a cloud shot and the moon in the background. I had other shots with the whole cloud but I like the this where the main subject could still be the moon. It doesn't really matter, I feel like I accomplished something. I needed a photographic fix and got it, in Turners Falls.

Contrail Shadow

I don't know if this is a contrail shadow or not, but I've never seen anything like it before. I don't think it is, but what else and what to name this? The BJ's parking lot has proven to be a good place to find images oddly enough. Seems like I've noticed these anomalies there and I'm not there for photography, only a deal. I'm glad I have this image. I don't know what this is, but it is what it is. Case closed.

Colored Clouds

My home was nearly in view when I stumbled onto this. Two wonderful rolling bands of clouds that stretched north and south. I sat in my car with the camera lens aimed out the window and contemplated how to handle this. My mind kept telling me "horizontal" and the composition was good, but didn't measure up to the level of excitement when I first saw it. I knew I had to try something different. Turning my camera vertical is a basic thought that doesn't always come to mind. You'd think it would, but not always. They say that car accidents typically happen within three miles of home. I wonder if photography does?

No Blade Windmill

As soon as this came into view I new there was something to be made. I aimed up, down, lowered myself, etc. I didn't want to take to much time and lose the clouds. The swirl pattern takes the place of the the missing blades. A psychological illusion. The windmill is neat, but without the clouds the shot is nothing. I find it odd, even now with all the clouds I've shot, that today, with this subject, I get swirly clouds. Perfect!

Cloud Rising

When your airborne what is there to do? I do the sleeping, eating, movie, and magazine stuff, but if I get a window I never seem to have enough card space. This is that "other point of view" thing. The later day light (as it is here) is fantastic. The image makes me think of something leaving it's nest. I love the warm dirty back lighting, the subtle hint of blue sky, and the shadow push on the lower 3rd. I wonder how many people on a "big Heavy" notice the amazing show of nature from above.

Tree Clouds

I saw the clouds and thought they were interesting. I grabbed my camera and started shooting. I've done fluffy odd clouds many times, this time it wasn't working. Unless a large airborne subject came through I had to use a tree top. Luckily, it was still early spring, so no leaves. I like the ragged branches against the soft puffy clouds. It's part of nature I guess.

Wrinkled Sky

What was going on in the sky? I hadn't seen cloud cover like this before. I had to think and shoot fast, it was the end of the day and the luminance was fading. If I had just aimed up, one might think it was an image of wrinkled up paper someone tried to flatten out. So I added the tree tops to help convey this message.

Cloud

I did multi exposures of clouds the other day. They blend nicely, its almost cheating. We've had plenty of clouds so why not. I only did a few, and then played a bit in Camera Raw. I used older settings I had applied to another file and ended up with this. Reminded me of the the Holga days!

Ice

We came around a corner and I couldn’t figure out what I was looking at. First I thought drought and the lake was low. Turns out, what I thought was mud, was ice! I had to make some kind of image. The hard part was finding the angle without tree limbs and things. The exposure worked out nicely as I only had to worry about the sky (I stopped down one to keep the ice dark). This image makes me think of a surreal moon, and SPRING!

Clouds

I new the clouds were good, I've always thought this grass burm was cool. How do you do a cool pic of a burm? It's half the photo! I had one fixed lens,, and was happy to be limited. I had to make it work, regardless. The burm blocked the usual tree/barn/human horizon. This was good. The lens focal length/focus/and apt are perfect for this shot of extreme depth. This is a good example of seeing better. Old Tony would have crawled up the bank and...
